If everything were perfect, you wouldn’t be reading this.
- You call. We talk about where you are, what you want.
- I tell you what I'm seeing. Compensation, firms, inside information. The stuff that never makes it to a listing.
- If there's something you're interested in, I'll ask for your materials and, with your permission, present those materials and work on setting up an interview.
- If there isn't, you hang up knowing more than you did. But now I know what you're looking for, and I'll call you when I see it. That's still a win.

Your recruiter should know how to make the case for you.
It's not enough to know which firms are hiring.
A good recruiter should understand your practice well enough to explain your value clearly, and understand the firm well enough to know why your background matters to them.
That means knowing what you do, what the firm does, where the practice is headed, and how your experience fits into that picture.
When I introduce you, my job is to make that case clearly and accurately, sometimes before you ever speak with the firm yourself.
