I’ve been recruiting in Miami since 2008.

I started my career recruiting across different industries and, in 2019, founded Holtz & Bernard to focus on attorney placement.

Today, I work with Am Law firms and premier boutiques looking for attorneys, and with associates, of counsel and partners considering what comes next in their careers.

The job is pretty straightforward.

Know the market. Know the firms. Know the attorneys. Understand what each side actually wants. Make the right introduction. And when there’s a fit, get the deal done.

A large part of my work happens before there is ever an interview. Attorneys call me to understand the market, compensation, firms and opportunities. Firms call me when they need someone they aren’t finding through traditional hiring channels.

I want to be useful whether or not there is a placement at the end of the conversation.

That idea became the mission behind Holtz & Bernard:

To be the most valuable career relationship an attorney or law firm can have.

Since founding the firm, we’ve placed 83 attorneys and built recruiting relationships with more than 100 law firms.

For attorneys, I take confidentiality seriously. I won’t send your resume anywhere without your permission, and I’ll tell you when I think staying where you are makes more sense than moving.

For firms, I try to understand the search well enough that when I send someone, there is a reason you should want to meet them.

That’s essentially how I work.

Beyond the Office

I play Texas hold 'em, tournaments fairly often, usually at the Hard Rock. I've played guitar since I was 12, and I tinker with them more than I probably should. I'm married to Ashley. We've got two kids, Valentina (the princess) and Jax (the terror). They keep me driven.
